Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has slammed the National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party PDP, Iyorchia Ayu, for showing “ingratitude” and “arrogance” after he was assisted to get the seat of the national chairmanship of the party.

Speaking on Thursday at the inauguration of roads in Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state, Wike challenged Ayu to show himself as a man of honour and integrity by fulfilling his promise that he would vacate the chairmanship seat if the northern region produces the presidential candidate of the party.

Wike’s comment is the latest in the calls for Ayu to quit the party’s chairmanship after former Vice President Atiku Abubakar emerged the presidential candidate of the PDP in May.

Meanwhile, backing Wike’s calls for the resignation of the National Chairman of the PDP, Iyorchia Ayu, the former Deputy National Chairman (South-West) of the PDP, Bode George says Ayu should step down immediately if he desires peace to return to the party.

Describing Ayu as immature over comments attributed to the former Senate President that those calling for his resignation were ‘children,’ George said leaders of the party were not begging Ayu to resign, but demanding that he steps down.
