The Appeal Court has nullified the election of Sen. Dino Melaye, lawmaker of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) representing Kogi West Senatorial District.
The Court also ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct fresh elections within 90 days.
Melaye confirmed the news in a series of tweets on his official Twitter page.
I just lost my election at the Appeal Court and Fresh election ordered. In all things I give God the Praise. He who started a good thing will definitely complete it. I ask my supporters to be law abiding as we shall always overcome. To God be the Glory.

In August, the Kogi State National Assembly Election Tribunal nullified Melaye’s election after his victory was challenged in court by Smart Adeyemi, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Adeyemi challenged the victory on three grounds of irregularities, over voting and non-compliance with the electoral acts.
