Osogbo, the Osun State capital, has been transformed into a sea of All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters as party members from across the state converge for the party’s final mega campaign rally ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
The rally, scheduled for Thursday, is drawing a major crowd of APC faithful from the state’s 30 local government areas, with supporters arriving in large numbers to demonstrate their backing for the party’s governorship candidate, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji.
The gathering has also attracted senior APC figures, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo and Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa. Other party leaders and political stakeholders are also in Osogbo for the event.
The high-profile rally represents a major show of strength by the APC as it makes its final push to secure victory for Oyebamiji in the August 15 poll. It also marks the culmination of the party’s official campaign activities ahead of the election.
Even before the formal commencement of the rally, the venue has been packed with enthusiastic supporters, while a steady stream of party members continues to make its way into the area.
The influx has also affected traffic around the Ogooluwa axis of Osogbo, with increased vehicular activity and delays reported as residents, motorists and rally participants navigate the area.
The presence of APC national leaders, governors and thousands of supporters has heightened political activity across the state capital, underscoring the significance attached to the final campaign event.
With the governorship election only two days away, the APC rally is expected to provide a final platform for the party to consolidate its grassroots support and rally voters behind Oyebamiji as the campaign season draws to a close.
