Anambra 2021: Court orders INEC to list Soludo as APGA candidate

An Anambra state high court has directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to accept and publish the nomination of Charles Soludo as the Governorship candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA.

Soludo who belongs to the Victor Oye-led faction of APGA had secured 740 votes to defeat Ezenwankwo Christopher who polled 41 votes, while ThankGod Ibe had four votes, and Okolo Chibuzor got seven votes.

But in the list published on July 16, the INEC omitted Soludo’s name and picked Michael Umeoji as the standard-bearer for APGA.

Delivering his judgement at the state high court Awka, the presiding judge, Justice Chukwudi Okaa upheld the June 23rd APGA primaries that produced Soludo as the candidate of APGA for the November 6, Anambra state Governorship election.

The court also reaffirmed that Victor Oye as the indisputable national chairman of APGA and directed that Edozie Njoku and Jude Okeke should stop parading themselves as chairmen.

Okaa therefore ordered INEC to remove the name of Hon Chukwuma Umeoji from its list.
