Alleged Organ Trafficking: Ekweremadu appears before UK Court


A former Deputy President of the Senate Ike Ekweremadu has appeared before the Uxbridge Magistrate court in the United Kingdom over allegations of organ harvesting.

Ekweremadu and his wife allegedly facilitated David’s entry into the UK to transplant his kidney into their daughter, Sonia, who is suffering from kidney failure.

During proceedings on Thursday, the prosecutor claims that the teenager identified as David Ukpo, who alleged that he was coerced to donate his kidney to the Senator’s daughter, is actually 15 years.

The case has now been adjourned to July 7 at Westminster Magistrate Court to enable the UK Attorney General, Suella Braverman, to determine whether the case will be tried in the country or Nigeria.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Senate said it was sending a delegation to visit Ekweremadu and his wife.

The lawmakers also urged all federal government institutions that is involved in the case to ensure that justice prevails in the case.
