The Nigeria Police Force has announced the inauguration of a committee to review documents from the Nigeria Financial Intelligence Unit and provide necessary information for the effective functioning of the Financial Action Task Force in the country.
According to the Force, the committee, headed by Adegbite Olaolu, comprises 21 notable, highly dedicated, and experienced officers of the NPF based on their professionalism and specialisation.
The committee will work on 22 phrases of reference which incorporates the draft, domestication and implementation of the Customary Operation Process on parallel investigation and inter-agency alternate of knowledge.
The committee will also provide data on Anti-Money Laundering, Counter-Financing Terrorism, and Counter-Proliferation Finance, in order to determine the level of the nation’s implementation of the strategic modalities emplaced to tackle insecurity and financial crimes in tandem with international best practices,
The Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, during the inauguration on Friday in Abuja, reiterated the commitment of his administration to tackling the menace of money laundering, terrorism and proliferation of arms financing,
The IGP also enjoined members of the committee to work assiduously towards attaining its mandate.
