Al Hilal CEO: Signing Ronaldo from Rivals Would Be “Very Unusual”

Al Hilal CEO, Esteve Calzada, has addressed recent speculation linking the club with a shock move for Cristiano Ronaldo, admitting that signing the Al Nassr striker would have been “a very unusual situation.”
In an interview with Diario AS, Calzada emphasized that Ronaldo is not just a player for Al Nassr but also the captain of Al Hilal’s eternal rival.
He drew a comparison between the fierce rivalry of Al Hilal and Al Nassr to that of Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid in LaLiga.
“At the end of the day, Al Nassr is like Atlético and Al Hilal is like Madrid,” Calzada said.
“It would be a very unusual situation to strengthen your team with a player from your eternal rival.”
The remarks come after Al Hilal were linked with a potential move for Ronaldo ahead of the Club World Cup.
Ronaldo’s current contract with Al Nassr is set to expire at the end of June.
