Akeredolu re-elected as Ondo Governor


The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Rotimi Akeredolu, has been declared winner of the Ondo Governorship election.

The result was announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC’s Returning Officer, Idowu Olayinka, on Sunday after collating results from all 18 Local Government Areas of the state.

Akeredolu defeated his closest rival and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Eyitayo Jegede, in 12 of the 18 LGAs.

The incumbent governor was re-elected after garnering 292,830 votes as against Jegede’s 195,791 votes.
