ADC Coalition Is ‘A Journey to Nowhere’ — Keyamo

APC’s Keyamo says new opposition coalition lacks structure, dismisses members as politically irrelevant and past their prime

Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has downplayed the significance of the recently announced coalition led by the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing it as “a journey to nowhere.”

Speaking during an interview with Arise News, Keyamo, who is also a prominent member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) criticized the composition and relevance of the coalition, saying it is made up largely of politicians who no longer wield influence.

“The ADC is in total tatters,” Keyamo stated. “What you see is a coalition of former this and former that, people who no longer hold any sway in Nigeria’s political landscape.”

He argued that the group lacks credible electoral strength and is largely composed of individuals who have drifted from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) without current political capital.

“If there are people who are retired, Atiku [Abubakar] eventually went to wake them up from retirement to give a semblance of a coalition,” he said, referencing the former vice president and PDP presidential candidate in the 2023 elections.

Despite dismissing the opposition effort, Keyamo emphasized that the APC remains alert and committed to governance, warning that complacency would be foolish.

“We are not resting our oars. Any politician who says he sees an opponent and is laughing and beating his chest is a foolish politician,” he said.

Keyamo’s remarks come amid growing political realignments and subtle positioning ahead of the 2027 general elections. The ADC-led coalition was recently unveiled as an attempt to consolidate various opposition voices, though it has yet to announce a unified policy platform or leadership structure.
