Abducted Anglican Bishop, wife, driver regain freedom


The Bishop of Jebba Diocese, Anglican Communion, Right Reverend Adeyinka Aderogba, his wife and the driver have regained their freedom after spending 48 hours in the den of their abductors.

They were abducted on Sunday along the new Oyo/Ogbomoso Expressway in Oyo State.

While confirming their release, the Diocese of Osun Anglican Communion on its Twitter handle on Tuesday evening, disclosed that they have been admitted to the hospital for medical attention.

According to the tweet: “Praise be to God. Bishop Adeyinka Aderogba, his wife and driver were released from the den of kidnappers after 48 hours.

“They are being taken to the hospital for medical attention.”
However, there was no report on whether ransom was paid before the release of the bishop, his wife and the driver.

Meanwhile, the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, has assured that investigations are ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators of the crime and bring them to justice.
