2023 elections will test strength of Nigeria’s democracy – WACSI


The Executive Director, West Africa Civil Society Institute, Nana Afad-nizu has described the 2023 election as a true test to the strength of Nigeria’s democratic journey.

Afad-nizu who made the statement in Abuja at the launch of the West African Civil Society Institute office in Nigeria added that the election is important and is coming at a time when the West African sub region is experiencing democratic retrogression, militant Islamic conflicts, poverty and inequality.

She however said these factors make the work of the Civil Society even more imperative, while adding that the objective of WASCI is to strengthen civil society organizations and organize civil society in the areas of operations, governance and management.

Keynote speakers also emphasized the need to find ways to make civil society more impactful to achieve set goals.
