The Ekiti state governorship election which held on Saturday has come and gone with the candidate of the All-Progressives Congress, Biodun Oyebanji, emerging winner of the election.
While Oyebanji garnered a total of 187, 057 votes, Segun Oni, candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, and candidate of the People’s Democratic Party garnered 82,211 votes and 67,457 votes respectively.
The election was however marred by reports of vote buying across many polling units, as voters were said to have been offered money to induce those already on queues to vote for their candidates.
It was gathered that between N5,000 and N10,000, was allegedly shared to each of the willing voters.
