2022 Democracy Day parade holds at eagles square in honour of Nigeria’s return to democracy


In honour of the nation’s return to civil rule and to remember Nigeria’s heroes of democracy, President Muhammadu Buhari, and other past leaders graced this year’s Democracy Day parade at the Eagle square in Abuja.

President Buhari’s arrival was heralded by a general salute, signalling the official kick off of the exercise in the nation’s capital.

The President, who was the Special Guest of Honour, inspected the guards, and was followed by a military and police march past in slow and quick time.

The Nigerian Army Female Corps also performed a combat display followed by traditional dance performance from various ethnic groups.

Prior to the President’s arrival, the guards had fallen into formation with several general salutes taken to welcome squad leaders and the commander of the Guards Brigade.

Speaking at the event, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha reiterated Government’s resolve towards ensuring a conducive environment that will attract Foreign Direct Investment and foster economic growth.
